Assignment!

We received our assignment today, I found out that we had to create a professional CV and cover letter for a job spec from the choice we got given, i chose to do the Help Desk spec.
This is the first part of our assignment. I feel the assignment is pretty straight forward and i feel that i will enjoy the assignment well.

In today's lesson we worked in groups of 3. We are going to put up a guide on how to prepare for an interview. We come up with loads of ideas on how to do this, we thought back to our interviews and how we had to participate in our interviews. We all came up with different ideas on how to get prepared for an interview.
Today's lesson went well, i have also learnt other ideas for my group members on how to prepare for interview this may be able to help me in the future.

Cv And Cover Letter Practise

In the lessons what we have been doing is having loads of practice on cover letters and a personal CV.

We have been looking at videos and good points on how we can get our self's recognized by work places, also we have been looking at our unique selling points and key points. 

I have really enjoyed doing this type of work as i would love to have a professional CV and cover letter to allow me to get a good job and to get noticed.
I have also learnt the insides and outs of CV's and cover letters for example what points get noticed and what the employer looks for in these documents.
Ever since doing practice on this subject i can say i have improved my CV and cover letter.

11:20am : Today is the day that Me, Daniel and Simon do our presentation based on our Red Amber and Green points.
I have created a presentation to show the rest of the class a little bit more about our group including what we are good at, what we are okay at and what we are bad at.

12:00 : We have just come back from our presentation our feedback on our presentation skills was we should not write a lot of writing on our presentation as the audience can just read of the board.


Overall our feedback was good.

The 3x3x3x3 Challenge

Today we get a task to work in groups the LO was;

-Identify your key transferable skills (RED, AMBER, GREEN)

-Ask what, how and why?

-Develop a presentation

-Deliver a presentation

Every member of my group had a task to write down 3 good, okay and bad points about them self’s.

We then had to do a task named the triad, this is where my group 3 of us had to ask each other questions about the Red Ambers and Greens one of our group members had to evaluate the other members on how they was asking the questions and how they were answering them.

We now have to work on a presentation and put together our Red Ambers and Greens, this presentation needs to be produced by next Friday.

I thought the lesson went really well and i enjoy working with other people.

Erica Campbell's Aspirations and Expectations

My name is Erica Jay Campbell I am 18 years of age and currently studying at St. Helens College on Fd Sc Applied Computing by Sheffield Hallam University. This course has enabled me to develop not only specific computer industry experience, but also a valuable and transferable skill set in this fast-paced sector.W I decided to take up this course as from the last 2 years I have been studying the BTEC Diploma in IT Level 3. I really enjoyed the course and achieved DD at the end of both years. After I have finished my 2 years of the Fd Sc Applied Computing I would defiantly love to go on to the top up top Sheffield Hallam University to achieve the full degree and be able to finish this degree successfully.



When I finish the whole 3 years of the course I would love to pick up a great career out of this of what I would really enjoy doing. I would like to be a magazine editor or maybe a web designer as these topics (web design) are what I have really enjoyed doing in my BTEC Diploma. I love the practical part of using computers and making things interesting to look at and work with. I intend on achieving these aspirations as trying my possible best in the course I am currently studying and try my best to get the grades what I want in all of the assignments I am given as my career aspiration may change in the future.

About Me

Before enrolling to St. Helens College I studied at Haydock High School. I loved high school and the subjects I used to study such as Drama, Art, Food Technology and P.E. I used to love doing practical work and working in groups with new people.



I currently have a part time job in Tesco St. Helens whilst I am studying at college this is so I can pay for my phone bill and days out with my friends. I have been working at Tesco for almost a year and really enjoy it as it is a great place to meet friends and work!



Before working at Tesco I used to work for a cleaning company called NIC I got this job through my mum as at the time I was looking for a part time job. I again enjoyed doing this job but I was looking for something a little more communicating.



I have a lot of hobbies including dance, singing also working with computers. My personal key points include me being;
